Instructions
An in-depth installation guide will be placed inside the Flock Industries Applicator Tool.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Micro-fibres are harmful to ingest can cause health complications. Ensure appropriate protection is used throughout the entire Flocking process. This includes (but limited to); eyewear, gloves, and a face mask. ⚠️
Ensure the surface of your project is thoroughly prepped and you are working within a concealed environment. Poor preparation or working conditions may hinder the finish of your project. This is not a project you want to rush. Dedicate ample time for a proper preparation and application.
- 1) Pour an consistent serve of self-levelling undercoat adhesive over the surface you wish to Flock.
- 2) Using a brush and/or roller, evenly spread the adhesive over the entirety of the canvas/surface. There should be no-runs or notably thick areas
Note - it is crucial to cover the entire surface area including intricate crevices, nooks and crannies. Failure to do so will result in a visibly patchy finish
Note - depending on the conditions, there is a 10-15 minute application window before the undercoat begins to cure. Do not rush the application, however, be mindful of the exposed adhesive.
- 3) Open the Flock Applicator Tool by separating the inner-tube from the outer-tube & remove the installation guide
- 4) Gently pour 25 grams (half a pouch) of Flock Fibres into the *CLOSED* end of the Applicator Tube before mating the tubes back together
Note - you may notice small clumps/build-ups of micro-fibres. The cap of the Applicator Tool incorporates our smartflock™ filtration-system to prevent larger Flock particles from exiting the tube
Use this time to peruse over your project and working conditions:
Note - be mindful of Flock Fibre consumption and reserve quantities. It is crucial the project is Flocked in one application
- 5) Whilst firmly holding onto the outer-tube, pull the inner-tube in a back and forth motion. For optimal application, apply flock from a 45-90° angle and approx. 180-200MM away from project surface.
- 6) Generously apply Flock to the entire canvas/project. This includes any crevices, nooks and crannies
- 7) Once Flocked, allow between 18 and 24 hours for the fibres to settle and adhesive to cure. Ensure the canvas is not exposed to direct sunlight or outside particles
Note - do not handle or move the canvas unless absolutely necessary. If required, handle the canvas from un-flocked surface areas. Touching the fibres prior to them curing will hinder the end-result
- 8) Next Day - Gently touch a non-exposed portion of the canvas. If the fibres are still tacky, allow additional time for adhesive to cure
- 9) Once cured, gentle lift the canvas and shake-off any excess surface Flock fibres. DO NOT USE A COMPRESSOR AIR-GUN
- 10) Enjoy (and send us through some photos 😉)!
